I have upgraded both. PTP 225 with a 500 MHz Sonnet G3 and a 9600/233 with a 800 MHz Sonnet G4.
Coincidentally, I got them both in very stock condition, the 9600/233 with 32 Megs of ram and a 4 meg video card (with kbd & mouse but no monitor) and the PTP/225 with 32 Megs of RAM and the original 8-meg ixMicro card (with kbd, mouse and really sharp 15-inch Apple AV monitor). The 9600/233 cost me just under $60.00 about a year and a half ago and the PTP/225 cost me $1.00 (thats right, one measly dollar)about three weeks ago. The 9600 looks better but I suspect that the PTP cools better. The PTP has a separate internal fan that blows directly onto the processor card, which I think is probably a good idea unless your upgrade daughter card comes with its own fan. Other than that they perform very similarly. M One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important.
