I have two PowerPC 8500s, both running OS X 10.2.8 (soon to be Panther
10.3.9) that run my inside art studio work (website production,
Sibelius score creation from scanned scores, some Photoshop work, etc),
and on the other I try to use in music making (accompaniments to my
horn playing, Sibelius score to sound production).
Should I use the G4/450 in my Art Studio, and the G3/500 in the Music
Studio?
I don't believe my music software is altivec saavy: Ableton Live,
Propellerhead Reason, Sibelius, Yamaha motif es softwares for example).
(Well maybe Reason is somewhat - but each CPU is too slow to really run
Reason). But my visual arts software is (somewhat): Photoshop, and
maybe the screen visualizations (I have a Radeon 7000 video card).
Any advantages to the G4 in a PowerPC 8500 (Music Studio) with just
onboard video and not much in the altivec saavy software? It also has
an M-Audio 2496 sound card.
Any effects regarding the OS X 10.2.8? 10.3.9? with having altivec
processors or not?
It's probably close because of the slow bus speeds in each ...
Any thoughts? (like, for the music studio, sell me the G3 or G4 CPU and
buy a faster one) ...
