One of the more "fun" Macs to get into. The trickiest part is getting
the front panel off the thing while not breaking off the locking
tabs that keep it secure.

My method requires something like a putty knife with a fairly stiff
blade, two inches or so wide.

First, press up on the two latches at the bottom front while pulling
gently on the front panel. The panel should start to pull away.

Next, insert the blade of the putty knife into the bottom edge of the
slit between the front panel and the side panels and pry the edge of
the front panel away from the side panel, first one side and
then the other, while pulling on the front panel bottom.

Work your way up the front panel a bit at a time until it swings
forward. Once it is free, the rest is simple, needing only a medium
Phillips screwdriver.

Use the putty knife to pry the sides of the expansion bay cover away
from the side panels and pull the cover forward, swinging the bottom
up.

Remove the single screw at the center rear of the top panel. Slide
the panel to the rear about 1/2 inches and lift it off. You will
see the access to the top bay.

The side panels are removed next. Use your fingernails or a small
screw driver to pull the catches near the front middle of the panels
away from the metal chassis and slide the panels to the rear about
1/2 inche. The panels then fall away from the chassis.

To get at the CD-ROM drive, all you need to remove is the front
panel. The drive is pulled out by lifting up the catch on the
"sled" and pulling forward, disconnecting the cables when they
are visible.

If you can stand a 6mb hit, I can try to send you the "book."
