Yes ... I remember RAM check in OS 9 can take quite awhile ... if its
turned on.
Can make you think things aren't working ...

more RAM
you have the slower it will be to start up, as it needs to test it all
before
it can boot. My 9600 with 384mb RAM takes about 30 seconds until it
