Hope this will be a quick and easy one: I have a 7500/100 (ID 68, PPC604, although the system profiler shows 120 MHz, probably was upgraded already), that I wished to upgrade to a faster CPU. A kind soul on the swap list sold me a 300 MHz 604e processor card, and during the last few days I tried to swap the cards with no luck: the faster one (Apple 820-0823-A, set @ 300 MHz) will not boot - no start-up chime, no HD activity (other than the initial spin), nada. Plugging back the original CPU brings the 7500 back to life. >> Alas, your 300 MHz card is not compatible with a 7500. IIRC the fastest Apple 604e that will work is a 225 MHz or perhaps a 250 MHz from one of Apple clones. I'm sure others on this list can elaborate more than I. --glen (digest mode) -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
