Actually, my two cents on this..heheh.
I dont like the fact that Apple stopped giving Macs a true "model name." In
other words, they use a "family name," such as "PowerBook" or "iBook," but
there is no distinction between models inside the family...
So, you're forced to use "1.4GHz PowerBook," or "1.5GHz PowerBook."
What about the previous G4s? Since there was no official model name, you
had to refer to them as their "nicknames," such as "QuickSilver" or
"Mirrored Door?" What the heck is that? Also there was the "1999 iBook" or
"2001 iBook," etc... arg...
Why cant they use model names or numbers, like in the past.. ie, "Quadra
840av" or "Mac IIci," or even "Power Mac 8500."
If you look at the iMac G5 family, you have to refer to them as "original
iMac G5" or "iMac G5 with iSight," etc...
Now, check out the latest iMac with Intel chip, it's official name is simply
"iMac."
So now you have to say "I have the 'new' iMac with Intel chip," as opposed
to "I have the 'original' iMac." (iMac 233Mhz with G3 chip)..
Sheez...
Why can't Apple just gives specific models inside a family an official
name....
One more point... what's with naming recent Macs and iPods with lower case
names, as in "iPod nano," "iPod photo" and "Mac mini." (Note the lower case
in the second word).. hmm... So many times when I read articles, they
improperly cap the word as "Mac Mini." Geez.... Apple just likes to cause
confusion with their names...

The PowerBook has
a lot of history and has been more or less a stunning success. With
the original lately being called the best gadget ever. He also said
that he wants every name to have Mac in it, I wonder what the iBook
will be called, the "MacBook Home" or something. I also don't like the
product line name having two separate words. Those are just my
thoughts about the keynote.
Agreed. Keep it simple. Powerbook, ibook. Macbook home? too long. And
home/pro? I think the i/Power was a good enough separation. Thinks I. Who
now have a Brand New Lowend Mac it seems, the new Intel Books can
apparently run circles round my Powerbook...
Oh well.
Happy new year to all, if I have't said it before!
