I started to work on a feature, which inlines simple recursions in the JIT code. The simple recursions must be created from characters, character sets, and fixed number or possessive repetitions. E.g: /(?:([\w$@`][0-9\w$@`]++)){0}(?1)=(?1)+(?1)/ You get your custom character ranges without worrying about the performance loss anymore.
