The prefixed names in old PCRE in debian are my doing. Without them, you would
attempt to use libpcreposix, but because the POSIX RE routines are in libc with
the same names, you always got them instead.

I do not know whether this still applies, as that was back in 1998 and libc and
all the compiler tools etc have changed significantly since then. But since
Pascal has emailed me asking for the same change to be made to the debian
package for PCRE 2, I guess it still does.
