I added one about two years ago. I paid about $100 at Office Max. It was on sale. I think that it originally sold for around $150. After two years, I still haven't had to replace any batteries or other maintenance. I bought it after we had experienced a few very short power dropouts. This was just enough to trigger the computer to shutdown and then, it wouldn't restart (ATX case). Since I put it in, (and it has all that you mentioned including an alarm that beeps if the power drops), I have it kick in about once or twice a month. Its only a short time, but the computer, and printer (inkjet) keep right on plugging. If you are using a laser printer, from previous experience at work, don't put that load on a UPS. Its just too much to warrant the price. At work (before I retired), we had to have all of the computers protected as there were times in the year when one distribution circuit (external) would have to be dropped and another put on line to balance the load. This was most disruptive on a large number of computers and electronic devices. In 9 years of use with these, I had one battery go on my computer. I think that maybe 10% of the units failed somewhere between 5 and 10 years. As you can see, the replacement should be a minor factor in purchasing. Capacity (VA) and features, (protection) should be the main considerations.
