Clint....I NEVER install the "hardware" or driver updates from MS Update.....I ALWAYS get them directly from the manufacturer's website.....MS always wants to update my video card driver and I never let it do this....I go directly to the manufacturer Personally, I have never had a problem installing any CRITICAL update from MS Linda Publisher ~ ABC ~ All 'Bout Computers Owner ~ Linda's Computer Stop http://personal-computer-tutor.com/main.htm Author/Teacher ~ MS Office EBooks/Classes http://personal-computer-tutor.com/services.htm -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Clint Hamilton Sent: Monday, May 20, 2002 8:03 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: PCWorks: Warnings about the Win. Update site [Name?] Well, it's not much of a security risk anyway if your computer won't boot, now is it. :) I guess you have a choice; don't install them and have a WORKING PC (that may not be 'totally' secure), or install them and HAVE a totally secure PC, that WON'T boot! Personally, I'd rather have the former, and keep using my hardware and software firewalls, and AV program. It's not a "policy of my choosing", it's a "policy of necessity" since the computers were useless with these specific updates. >OTOH, if you choose to install every patch (even none critical) at your >*working* PC, you take a certain risk. Well, that's exactly what I was saying hence the purpose of my post.
