If running Win98/ME
Make sure another icon is not also selected on the desktop, especially IE.

If running Win95/98/SE/ME/XP
If a program other than MS Media Player is the default then you might have
a file association problem.
1. Open Windows Media Player and select Tools / Options.
2. Select the Formats or File Types tab (depends upon version).
3. Uncheck the CD Audio Track box and click Apply.
4. Check the CD Audio Track box and click Apply.
5. Click OK.
6. Insert an audio CD-ROM. If it plays correctly in Windows Media Player,
your problem is resolved.

If the audio CD-ROM does not play correctly, you will have to manually
associate audio CD-ROMs with Windows Media Player:
1. Click Start and right-click My Computer and click Explore.
2. Click Tools -- Folder Options and click File Types tab.
3. Select N/A or NONE in the Registered files types area under the
Extensions column whose File Types is AudioCD (depends upon version).
4. Click Advanced button under Details for 'AudioCD' file type.
5. Click Play in the Actions box and click Edit button.
6. Browse to the location of Windows Media Player and select the
executable. It should have a path similar to:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe". Include the quotation
marks.
7. Add a space followed by /device:AudioCD "%L" to the end of the path, so
the full Application used to perform action box looks similar to:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /device:AudioCD "%L"
8. Check the Use DDE box and click OK three times to close.
9. Insert an audio CD-ROM. If it plays correctly in Windows Media Player,
your problem is resolved.

If neither of these work, I'm out of ideas (:>)
