The biggest issue I can personally think of is the settings for the
mouse - I think the setting for mouse trails might be on on the system
you are using.

The best way to check is to open the control panel, click on the mouse
icon, and check through the settings (since this can various somewhat
from mouse manufactures, you sometimes need to go through each set of
tab settings) for any that deal with mouse trails. If the box for
turning it on is checked, then just uncheck it, apply, and then try
moving your mouse and see it that takes care of the problem.

Hopefully, this solves the problem - if not, you might need to check the
other settings for the mouse to see if any of the other settings are
involved as well.

Also, sometimes there is accessability issues with the mouse as well. If
you can not find the answer with the settings for the mouse with that
icon, check to see if there is an accessabilty icon in the control
panel, and see if there are any settings found there for mouse options -
that might be the cause as well.
