Make sure the paths are right in the registry
Go to
HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSInfo
and in the right hand pane, make sure the path is correct for the location
of your msinfo32.exe
ie
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe
Then make sure msinfo32.exe is listed as an App Path key here
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\msimn.exe
and make sure the path stated in the right hand pane is correct there too.

Also did you try replacing msinfo32.exe? Could be corrupt too.
If the reg paths are correct, try running SFC from the Run box
SFC /SCANNOW

good luck

Subject: PCWorks: system information window

> hi..... i'm using windows xp home edition.....earlier today i tried to
access my "system information" window through the start menu but it refused
to open.... i then went to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\MSInfo and clicked the executable file "msinfo32.exe" and again it
wouldn't open .....i also tried the "run" command... i restarted the
computer but this didn't resolve the problem ....i do know that i could
access the system info at an earlier time.... has anyone experienced this
problem and\or know how to fix the problem .... i might add that all other
items in the start\accessories\system tools folder work fine....i also
learned that if you delete or move the msinfo32.exe file it will recreate
itself but this didn't resolve the problem.......thanks.... Gary Burke.
