Fire up regedit (Start -- Run -- regedit -- enter key or click OK)Is there a program I can use to find out what something is that is starting up when the computer starts up. Under msconfig there is a square and the description area is blank. I have checked under everything and can find nothing about what this is. It was not there until the past couple days after going online. Thank you, Sandy
Expand "+" sign on left in front of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE "drill down" to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If the program starts from the startup folder it is listed here in the "Run" folder
or in the "Run-" folder or in the "RunOnce" folder.
If it is not listed, then just ignore the "blank box" found in MSCONFIG.
