In the hour of 09:40 PM 22/02/2003 -0500, Ted Mozer spoke this:
As hard drive prices get lower and as my need for drive space gets bigger
(for video files), I was thinking of going for a 200 gig. However, the
following statement causes me to reconsider a 120 gig....

Hard drives larger than 137GB require a controller card to utilize full
drive capacity

Would the above be true even running Windows XP NTFS?

Ted,

If your system is new enough then you may not need the controller card. This problem is due to the system BIOS, not XP which when used with NTFS is limited to 2.2 TB (terabytes).

Some vendors sell monster drives with controller cards as well like the Maxtor 200 gb drive http://www.maxstore.com/product.asp?sku=2257820
