I found out to my dismay that the Norton version I've been
using for years with win95, 98 & ME will not work with XP.
Now I'm forced to use one these other versions. I tried them
before, and hated them. Each had something screwed up about
it. I can't recall which had what caveat, but they were
either script errors in the interface, email problems, or not
being able to unload it. I have around here somewhere v2000,
'01, '02, but I was only able to find 2002, so I tried it on
XP. It's the one where there is no way to unload it without
restarting the PC every time! It's so simple with this
version I've always used. You simply right click the icon in
the system tray, click "configure", then go to the 'auto
protect' tab and uncheck the box "Load auto protect at start
up" then it asks you if you "want to unload it NOW". This is
great for totally unloading it while installing anything.
This is not possible with 2002 and you are forced to uncheck
the box to load with windows, then you have to restart.

So, can anyone tell me which version of Norton that works with
XP is like this old version of Norton where you don't have to
restart the PC to unload it?
Thanks,
-Clint
