Hi Listers,

Remember the debate that ran for years (an still goes on I suppose) about
whether it is better to leave your computer on 24/7 or turn it off between
uses?

How about a TV set? I don't suppose anyone would leave it on 24/7 whether
they used it for internet use of not, but what in your opinion is the
optimal on/off use? For instance, if one is not going to use it for an
hour, is it better to turn it off and then back on again, or is it better
to leave it on (maybe muted) till one is not going to use it for several
hours?

I am thinking of picture tube life for the most part. What do you think?
Anyone have any data here? Seen any studies on this? Any experience?

Roger

The greatest difficulty lies not in choosing between self-interest
and the common good, but in knowing the difference.
