I have an old computer running Windows 98 SE and a
SoundBlaster AWE64 sound card. Occasionally one of the
Windows sounds will not release the sound card and I can't
access it with any other program and the Windows sounds no
longer work. I know I could replace the sound card with a
multichannel one but I am curious as to what is taking place
with this one.

Is there some way I can initialize the sound card driver
without having to reboot the computer or force the sound card
to be released?

Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Thank you,

Tom
