Restore is first in, first out, on almost every (perhaps
every single) occasion when the operating system is
releasing space. As I mentioned, there is a way to restrict
size devoted to restore.

Restore worked extremely well for me when I recently had a
botched program installation. It restored to the night
before the day of the installation. Had I wanted to, had I
felt it was necessary, I could have personally created a
restore point immediately prior to the installation. That's
probably a smart move, I had not anticipated problems, there
were, a restore was necessary, I could have chosen my own
restore and perhaps been more confident when doing it.

I think XP is the most stable OS since I started using
computers in 1991. I also, as a matter of protection, have
always obtained ALL Microsoft critical updates. I don't
have the mindset to try to decide if Microsoft is out to get
me and so I accept on faith the critical update has value.
Especially, when half of the technical ezines are talking
about the holes in the programming that must be patched by
the critical updates.

I tend to think the on-line resources for XP might be
superior to the books, although I favor the "Dummies" books
in most areas (I wouldn't enjoy my Palm nearly as much had I
not read the book devoted to PDAs).
