Im really not sure what to call this subject but this is the problem

Computer 1 - Pent III 866 running 512 mg Ram and using MS Windows XP

Computer 2 - Pent III 866 running 216 mg Ram and using MS Windows 98

Both computers are networked with Computer 1 being the "host" (through
Internet Sharing option)

Completely out of the blue for the last two days, whenever computer 2 is
turned on and connects to the network - the online performance of
Computer 1 all but fails. I am unable to view most websites (either
local or international), there are some where I can get to the index
page (with half the graphics missing) but cannot go any deeper, MS
outlook cannot download any emails - keeps saying that it cannot connect
with mail host, and most of my chat programs cannot connect. Its almost
like its got down to a 14.4kbps but internet connect is still stable at
50.6kbps.

If Computer 2 is not switched on then computer 1 works perfectly.

I have no idea what has caused this.

Does anyone have any ideas of where I could start to look at whats going
on?

The only other thing is that the CD-Rom drive of Computer 2 has died -
but I don't think that this would affect the networking. I havent
replaced it yet but havent removed the one that has died yet either.

I thought of doing a system restore back to three days ago but havent
installed anything that I think would effect the running of the computer
- the only thing I have installed is SnagIt on computer 1.

Thanks in advance for any help received

Regards
