To one and all, I have gotten a msconfig statup group problem that I just have NO idea at this point where the item is stored for running when system boots - system is Win98SE.
I installed a program, and it installed not only itself on the system, but an additonal program as well, which is listed in the msconfig startup group listings. The problem I now have is that I uninstalled the original program, which deleted the additional program as well - BUT it was STILL listed in the msconfig startup entries to run when windows starts. The first time after the uninstall, windows tried to find something to run, so it gave me a "solution" that it found, and I said go ahead. The problem I now have is that I can NOT find ANY reference to that subsitute program to be run anywhere in the registry, the startup folder, or anywhere else on the system. The ONLY way I can get the program to not load and run when windows starts is to uncheck the entry in msconfig to avoid it running. I would like to get rid of this entry in msconfig but have no idea how to do that at this point. So my question is is WHERE in the world is msconfig startup listing entries stored besides the registry and the startup folder??? Does it have a separate file it refers to for things to run at startup or what??? Also, since I am trying to complete the putting together my new system which will dual boot Win98SE as well as WinXP Pro, I am wondering as well for both verions of Windows. HELP!!!!
