You're correct about favorites.
Cookies I'm not sure about, but you can find the path in IE Tools/Internet
Options/Temp Internet Files/Settings.
To open IE to a blank page, open Tools/Internet Options/Home Page, select
"use blank".
There's an excellent opportunty here for someone with your HTML skills to
create a custom home page. Just create a page with your favorite links, open
it in IE and use the Home Page Option to"Select Current".

1. In Explorer, to back up the Favorites, you go to File,
Export, and follow the Wizard until you have the Favorites
file in some backup drive. If that is incorrect, please
correct me.
2. You do the same exporting for Cookies. I say cookies
because in Netscape I would initially visit those sites that I
needed (banking, utilities, etc.) and then make the cookies
file "read only" ... and it worked. Where is the cookies file
for Explorer found and could the same trick be played as I did
in Netscape? It would have to be a file that I can actually
open up and see that the sites visited are the sites I have in
mind before making it "read only."
3. There's another file I had in Netscape called prefs.js
where certain configurations were made. I used to add the
following line (withOUT the quotes but WITH the semicolon) to
the bottom of that file:
"user_pref("mailnews.start_page.enabled", false);"
This would guarantee that Netscape messenger opened up with an
empty pane rather than with the Netcenter Messenger start
page. Here in Explorer, I'm not even sure this is necessary.
My question would be, is there a file in Explorer comparable
to prefs.js in Netscape where any configurations *have* to be
made? If so, what configuration are suggested?
