Original Question:
In Netscape I would initially visit those sites that I needed
(banking, utilities, etc.) and then make the cookies file
"read only" ... and it worked. Where is the cookies file for
Explorer found and could the same trick be played as I did in
Netscape? It would have to be a file that I can actually open
up and see that the sites visited are the sites I have in mind
before making it "read only."

Harold, look in your Window folder and see if there isn't a
cookies folder
in there ... Ben

Response
Yes, it's there, Ben. I don't know how I could have missed it.
I'll remove all unneeded cookies from the folder. I would
think that index.dat file has to remain (would you know what
that index.dat file is used for?). And then I'll visit those
"important" sites where cookies are needed, put the folder on
"read only" and see if it works. If my thinking is all wrong
here, please correct me.

Btw, I'm using Explorer now trying to wean myself from NS (at
Hugh's advice) because 1. when working on my site to satisfy
NS, the site looks nutsy in Explorer, and 2. since most people
use Explorer:
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp ... I
might as well join the parade. Oh how I miss my Netscape!!!
Although I.E. is now my default browser, I'm still using the
NS Messenger because that's the only one I know how to use
(link is in my Explorer's "link bar"). When I grow up, I might
start using Outlook Express ... Harold
