Rick, I've spoke of this before at the list in great detail. You should be able to find it in the archives. I didn't read the article but from your comment I'd say it's about M$ spying and security breaches. In short; as long as you disable ALL SERVICES you don't need (which is a BUNCH of them); use the Service Pack; and get ONLY the updates you're POSITIVE you need and NOT from the "update site", XP is fine. But yes, out the box, it's a VERY dangerous OS. Next month M$ will no longer offer updates for pre ME OS's so you're going to have to use another OS other than '98 if you want it to remain "as secure as possible". I can help you with what you need to disable and how to configure it to be secure and safe.
