Recently, I had the following problem with my computer for two days. When I
booted up my, just as soon as HP WindowsXP came up, my monitor screen turned
black and the following message appeared across the screen: OUT OF RANGE.
That's as far as I could get. I tried opening in SAFE MODE and then SYSTEM
RESTORE. System restore didn't work.

Finally I decided to use the SYSTEM RECOVERY PROGRAM that some HP Pavilions
come with on the hard drive. Of course that solved the problem. It runs like
a new computer now, but I have had to redownload all the software that I have
added since I bought this computer (like printer, scanner, etc). This really
is a nuisance, and I'm afraid I have lost a few folders that I had saved.

In case this should happen again, can any one tell me what I can do rather
than redoing my entire operating system. Thanks, Ann
