You're right about that. I don't understand why some have to
put all that....uhhhh......"junk" at a website. I feel the
same way about Java. So few have the sense to use Java,
ActiveX, scripts, and similar things CORRECTLY, yet every moron
is insistent upon trying some half-wit job of incorporating it
into their website resulting in nothing but an annoying,
error-prone experience due to their anencephalic lack of
knowledge on the subjects. They cause nothing but problems due
to the errors. Try and navigate, order something, choose from
menus, etc., etc., and you can't because of the errors.

Unfortunately, since every so called "webmaster" thinks they
know how to use these program languages other than HTML, they
are still going to screw-up their websites with them and we all
have to put up with it. I could go on about this for quite a
while! (Hee hee!) As you can guess, I just had this
"experience" yet once again at several other websites while
searching for something.

Interesting article is the one you now cite at

http://www.active-x.com/articles/whatis.htm

I am not sure it was cited the first time but I threw away
that message so can't check.

It is a plaything then of the web producer with the belief
that the user of the site will like all the various gunk
there. I am not certain that I do, but I don't see that
impacting its use <smile>.
