Run ALL of the anti-malware online scanners, install the free anti-malware scanners, and search for the removal tools for each of the malware infections if the anti-malware programs can't remove them. This may fix the high CPU usage problem. Having high CPU usage is normal when you do a scan of any kind, but it's not normal at rest. Unless, you have a program running like CPU Idle, or similar then you're going to see high CPU usage. In the BIOS of some AMD platform mobo's, there's an entry for "CPU Disconnect function" or something like that. This can peak your CPU usage if it's enabled. When you cont-alt-del just how many things are running? Are you POSITIVE they are ALL XP Services? More than 20 of them can be disabled with no ill effects, in fact with BETTER results since they won't be running in the BG all the time. Not everything running will always show in cont-alt-del. If you determine that everything there IS an XP service, and nothing is in your "system tray" or "Startup" folder, then you need to check out which XP service is causing it. If things ARE in your System Tray, then they should be showing up when you cont-alt-del and maybe you just don't recognize them. Check both tabs, "Processes" and "Applications". Also, like Robert said, run MSCONFIG and uncheck any checked boxes there under the "startup" tab. First I'd clean your PC of the malware, then check the CPU usage. How do I get rid of them. I find no way to Delete, Quarantine, or otherwise get rid of the Trojans. Can anyone help?
