Peter I happened to notice your post in the archives. Thanks for the info. FYI, it works fine, but like that other one, for some reason it takes about 1-2 days to start working!
They have no info whatsoever on how to use the program nor where to put the plugins! I d'loaded the Gmail plugin, but that was it. I only DOWNLOADED it! No where could I find where to place it, or how to install it if it needed it. Evidently that's not even needed and just having it on your PC is enough?! Unlike gPopper, it needs no configuration. After installing it, you just click the .exe and it goes to the System Tray, and you use OE in the regular manner (after of course adding the new account to OE). The only thing about FreePOPS is you can't delete (in my example) mail from the Gmail account, you still apparently have to login and delete your email. While gPopper has this function, it doesn't even work, so the programs are I guess equal in that respect. FYI, you can send Gmail email from OE with FreePOPS, but you have to use your ISP's SMTP to do that. I must say I like FreePOPS MUCH more than gPopper. -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com From: Peter Kaulback Also you may want to look at FreePops which works with Hotmail, Yahoo, and GMail (maybe others too) http://freepops.sourceforge.net/en/ Plus with this you don't need .Net installed. A major advantage to those without a high speed connection and/or who don't use XP. And, it works with Windows, OS X, and Linux/'Nix's. A while back found one called "POP Goes the Gmail", and it didn't work. I found another one that works though. It's the same program that was taken over by another person and fixed, and the name changed to "Gpopper". For some reason it wouldn't work for me the first day+, then it just started working all of sudden. You can download it here: http://www.imizzy.com/gpopper/ How to setup the email program is here: http://www.imizzy.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=184&PN=1 You must have .NET installed for it work, and you also might need the .NET patch at the WinUpdate site if you have errors with the program. -Clint ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
