HaroldHarold where are you seeing version 5?? It's version 6.0.1. The file name has "6" within it, plus they state 6.0.1 several times on the page.

Ah, I think I see, I don't know why but they only allow you to download
v6.0.1 for XP! Win98 only allows the v5.x download. I would think v6.x
WOULD work with '98, it might. But at any rate, if 5.x is doing what you want it to do, it's a moot point. BTW, v6.x has some awesome features that v5 does not.

The current version at the link I sent is v6.01 or something like that.
How did you get v5? - -Clint
A more pertinent question would be, "What am I doing up 5:45am answering email?"
That's the free version that is offered on the page you suggested. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html I followed the steps there (English, Windows 98, dial-up) and behold, Adobe Reader 5.0.
It even says in Step 2 on that page: "You will download the most current version of the Adobe Reader that is available for your language and/or platform selection. This version may not include all of the features and capabilities available in Adobe Reader 6.0."
Download file size: 9.9MB Acrobat Reader 5.0.5
Interesting that when you copy/paste the above two lines from the page, a whole list of versions appear on the paste ... but for my "language and/or platform," only version 5 is shown. I wonder how they did that. Anyway, it's fine with me as it is more than I need. ... Harold
FWIW Adobe Reader V6.0.1 has been running under Win98SE on this machine for quite some time. Then again this is the machine which runs 640M of Ram that it is not supposed to be able to do.
