I just had the same problem, I tried various programs to get around the problem, I also tried to restore the computer to an earlier time, nothing worked, the only solution was a reformat, and a new installation of XP. Meir
SP2 has just been installed using the MS CD on a laptop running XP Home. Now it will only boot up to the XP logo when the bars below then stop. When trying to start in all the Safe Modes the computer runs through a load of files which are shown on screen before locking up. It will not start using the " last good configuration" setting getting only as far as the logo as above. Any advice please. Thanks --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
