You should also have several instances of it running.  Not all are needed,
and some of them are removed from the list (and running) by disabling
unnecessary "Services".  Yes, they can slow a PC down, that's why you should
disable any unneeded Services.  Not just the ones that call on svchost, but
any of them.

Can anyone tell me what is SVChost.exe? it seem to take up a lot of
memory in
