I have no clue as to whether the IP addresses are static or dynamic, how to find out or how to make them static. I THINK the XP is static, don't know about the 98. How to I find out and how do I fix it?

Thanks,
Cindy

Hi Cindy.
You don't say whether the IP addresses for your computers
are static or dynamic. In my experience , especially if
you're mixing XP and 98 it's best to give each computer a
static address, (192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.2) with the sub mask
as 255.255.255.0. This should enable you to share properly.

Obviously, as others have pointed out, you must be sharing
the files correctly.

best of luck

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work.
