Ben, Thanks for the reply and I think you may be correct that the keyboard does not work during part of the boot process. Is there a way to stop the flash screen when it is booting? I notice that it says something like "enter" and "delete" but goes by so fast I can not read it all. Also where is the reset button? Is that the one on the front of the tower?

There is a point where my Logitech keyboard doesn't work in the windows boot
process. I don't know why. It works on the bios screens but then isn't
functional until I get into windows. Plug in a real keyboard. Another way
would be to hit the reset after windows starts to boot. On the reboot it
will take you to a screen that lets you select safe mode and other options.

Subject: PCWorks: XP in Safe Mode?

I have been trying to start in safe mode and for some reason it just
goes to windows, like it or not. I go to startturnoff computerTurn off
then I turn the computer back on and when I see the first sign of light
on the screen I start hitting F8. It just goes to Windows. I am using a
Logitech wireless keyboard and I wonder if that makes a difference? It
has a F-Lock on it and I have tried it both ways, with the light out and
with the light on, no difference. I went to help on the computer and
their terminology is even different. They say Click Shut Down, well
there is no "shut down".

Thanks
