It sot of sounds like you have lost your system fonts. I'm having a hard time picturing 74 things down the right side of your screen. The 74 things in your startup is weird though. Clint may be right about some sort of malware. Do you have a WinXP cd? If you do you can run a restore or a repair from it. If you boot from the cd, you can choose the recovery console and do a restore or go ahead an start a new installation but select "repair the existing installation" at the second repair option.

I'm wondering if any of you could help me. I can't recall what I was doing when it happened. I think I was just looking something up on my searcher. Suddenly 74 litle square green boxes appeared down on the right side of my screen beside TIME and all the other things that go there. It was as though I had added 74 things to my startup. Although I have cable, my computer will barely go anymore. But the really odd thing is, I can't read anything on my computer. Everything is in gibberish---numbers, squares, zeroes, x's, ?'s, etc. It must be the language that a program is originally written in, which I know nothing about. Every letter on my desktop is unreadable. The only thing that is still in English is a letter that I had downloaded and had not read yet. I also was able to download another email, but had to guess at whether or not I was hitting the CHECK EMAIL button. My computer is an HP Pavilion 7975. I jave Windows XP. Use Yahoo as a sercher. The only thing that I have recently downloaded that may cause trouble is ChoiceMail Free. I use it as well as Express but I'm not sure that I like it. Hope you can help me.
