Jeff, I've done this many times, mostly with little or no trouble. But it
may take some time. You may have some headaches with getting the drivers
right for the new board, but that's to be expected. Just make sure you have
the drivers you need on hand (should have come with the new barebones
system).
Most of the troubles I've experienced had to do with getting video drivers
right, which meant that the machine was working in VGA mode until I got it
straightened out. I've done this with all versions of Windows up through
Win ME. (I've not tried this with XP or Win2000, however.)
