Donna:
I think that formatting your computer will
be easier that using this method.
The one I tried really does not recover
your password. It lets you change the
password to a new one so you can run the
operating system. I used it on a win NT system
and it worked but I got lost on a win 2000 system.

I resolved my problem with the win 2000
system by deleting the files associated
with the password. ( I hid them by changeing
their name and moving them to an other folder).
I do not remember the name of the files.
Maybe someone on the list can supply that
information.
Now the computer would not boot at all.
It offered to repair the problem, so
I went into the repair mode and it
offered to use the files from the last successful
boot. It booted to the point of asking for the
administrative password. I entered a blank password
and win 2000 went on to load from there.
