That's a feature of your keyboard software/drivers. First I would look in the control panel and go to keyboard and there should be some settings there. See if there is one to display the volume control on the screen. If there is check it, uncheck it ... Play with it. You know what to do Harold. If it's not in Control Panel, it should be somewhere. Look around.
If that doesn't have any success. You may need to reinstall the keyboard software. You can go to the Compaq site and look under your model number and get it, I think.
