Mine is that way all the time (in the tray). I've discovered it's because
I have email scanning turned off. If I turn that back on, it regains it's
colors. I scan and check updates every night at 2AM, and the reports
confirm that's been done. My ISP does such a good job quarantining viruses
(I get notified of that), that AVG has a pretty cushy life on my machine.

Question . What causes the colors in the System Tray icon to disappear and
