Try another CD drive. I have recently experienced the same type of
problems. They would install perfectly with another CD drive.
This was on an AMD-64 3200 W/512 memory and 120GB HD.

2800 + 1805 MHz processor - Windows Me Build 3000 - Microsoft IE 6.0.2800.116
128 bit encryption. - (2) SATA 200 GB hard Drives + (3) IDE 250 GB Hard
Drives from an ATA 133 Maxtor Ultra Controller card - (1) external Sony DVRW DVD
drive and (2) internal , one DVD, and the other a straight CD ROM Drives.
