Get "task manager" open by right clicking on the task bar on the bottom of the screen and see what program is hogging the resources, you can then isolate the cause and determine what to do from there....I have cleaned out several systems that have this from various malware programs or virus ..try the trial version of ewido.... http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ Use it in safe mode...and there is always system restore... Remember if you do have a virus or malware, it may be in your restore volumes....
