If you haven't gone out of your way to add fonts to your system, I wouldn't
mess with it.

If you read the article Keith linked to, it says below 400 and that's really
for Win9x. Just because you don't intentionally use a font doesn't mean
that the system or some program doesn't need it. Be careful, Harold.

Subject: PCWorks: Fonts

Hello again,

Using Windows XP, MS Word 2000, Outlook Express, dial-up internet, and other

proggies too much to delineate.

Computer is working fine, never worked better, but I understand that
computers work best when there are not too many fonts in the Fonts folder. I

have 235 fonts there (including Wingdings, of course) and when using the
word processor, I rarely use more than Times New Roman and Comic Sans MS.

Now I know there are other fonts that are used by Windows, and maybe other
installed programs (Firefox, Internet Explorer, AVG, ZoneAlarm, ICQ, and the

many maintenance programs I'm using, etc) have installed there own fonts.

Question (which often comes up): I know Ariel is important for email (or is
it Courier?), but how can I know which of the 235 current fonts I have in
the system I can remove?

At the same time, wishing all a safe holiday and a good year to come. ...
