Harold,
I had this happen to me before.
Your search assistant files are damaged or missing. Do a Google search, but I
think you need
the XP CD to reinstall search assistant.

Subject: PCWorks: "Search" doesn't work in Win XP

Hello again,

First letting you know that my Caps Lock is again working. I brought that
"Qline Hotkeys" program back and reversed the boo-boo I made when fooling
around with it. For anyone interested, it can be found here:
http://www.allworldsoft.com/download/18-071-qliner-hotkeys_download.htm ...
It's supposed to enable you to configure any key on your keyboard for another
purpose you might have in mind. I wanted the Delete key to clean out my
closets but it didn't work.

Now a new problem. When going to Start > Search > For Files or Folders, and
then entering something into the "name" box, and clicking "Search Now" ...
nothing happens. I must have clicked something I should not have clicked.
