Netgear has a troubleshooting page here:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n100056.asp
See "Optimizing a slow computer".
You may do as well by resetting the router to factory defaults and
installing again.

My daughter hooked up a Netgear Super G wireless router today. The
question is why would the second computer access the internet faster
than the main computer which is directly wired to the router? When the
router is connected the main computer is very, very slow.
Main computer works fine when the router is disconnected.
