PCWorks: Spoolersv.exe problems

I have been using Paperport as scanner software and have sent items from 
other application to paperport then dragged those items to the fax 
software. Lately I get a Spoolersv.exe error and all application are 
shut down. In searching for the spoolersv.exe I find several of them in 
C:\windows folder. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? I had a 
M$ update during the night and I suspect the update. I tried to go back 
before the update thru system restore but that did not fix it.
(I have since turned auto update off.)
