A root folder has a limit of files that it can contain. Not sure if its
512 or in that region, but I have encountered this on both hard drives
and floppies. If you can store to a folder, then check the file count
in the root of the drive.

No, it's a typical internal IDE drive (Maxtor ATA133). It's
not a *FOLDER* that's giving the issue, it's the drive itself,
the root of it where I cannot save email. But get this, if I
nav to a FOLDER on the drive and try to save email, it WORKS
FINE. <scratches head again......now creating a bald spot>
No, no other accounts on the PC and I'm the only one that uses
this one.

Clint, is this an external storage drive, if so then have you
checked
with the vendor for any issues?
Are there any other accounts on your system? Has someone
possibly
plugged in and done anything?
Is this folder at the root level?

Yes, I can save them somewhere else and then save them to the
drive. The account on my XP is an account with full admin
access & privileges.
Thanks.

Clint, have you tried logging in as administrator or under
another
account with admin privileges?
This is normal for such circumstances.
Can you save them somewhere else and then save them to the
folder alone?

Well here's a new one on me! For years I've been saving
email
to a storage HD, and now all of sudden when I try and save
an
email to it, I get it: "You do not have permission to save
in
this directory. See the administrator to obtain permission.
Would you like to save in the My Documents instead?"
???????!!!!! HUH?? It is ONLY happening with emails,
trying
to save them from OE.
So what's the deal?? :-) Of course a search for this as
usual
yielded not a SINGLE result with regards to emails. Once
again
I seem to be the only person ever plagued with an issue!
