Here's another M$ screwup with a patch release. I knew about this before these "geniuses" did. This is update 918899 (XP & IE). I installed it about a week or so ago after I determined I DEFINITELY needed it. Shortly after, I was getting spontaneous BSOD's, AND, IE crashes in user32.dll, wininet.dll, and the infamous problem with mshtml.dll came back! I also lost ALL DATA I was working on at the time of the last crash! I spent about 2 hours making PDF spec files, and right when I finished, this thing BSOD'd again, and I lost everything in the folder! I then realized it HAD to be a recent M$ update since it started shortly after it, and two days ago I removed 918899, then this article comes out today. http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-6106039.html?tag=nl.e550
They should be SUED for releasing their screwed up patches with obviously NO TESTING. The stupid thing about it is they say it doesn't even affect SP2, and that's what I'm using, plus I never heard of "PeopleSoft"! So evidently the problems go further than SP1 while using PeopleSoft apps. If anyone is having odd PC behavior lately after installing 918899, it's probably the cause. -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
