Harold, each time you install something (using this windows package manager) or windows update installs something, this file does all the work. It's the package manager or installer made by MS.

The files are supposed to be temporary, but with most temporary files in the windows environment they tend to hang around a little longer. Just in case.

Hello again,

I have a folder in my root-C named "9e4afb9d014d8c71a4eeebcaf10499" and within
it is a notepad file named "msxml4-KB927978-enu" with tons of text in it.
Googling it shows it is just a log file. The first few lines read as follows:

=== Verbose logging started: 11/19/2006 9:26:31 Build type: SHIP UNICODE
3.01.4000.2435  Calling process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe ===

I get the feeling that it is of no importance, and since I don't like to see
strange files just cropping up for no reason, I'll place it in my desktop
"hold" folder until I'm sure it is not needed. Out of curiosity, anyone have
any idea how this file got here and what it is for? ---- Harold
