The resource concept died with 98.
With XP and Vista, just open task manager (Ctrl=Alt-Del or right-click the task bar) and look under the performance tab. XP is much better about releasing memory, and a well behaved computer can go a very long time without rebooting.

Hello again,

In Win 98 (now with Vista out, 98 is becoming history) I had no problem seeing
what percent resources I had left before I would reboot to refresh the system.
I just right-clicked My Computer, Properties, and there is was (if I recall
correctly).

Now with Win XP I would appreciate if someone would give detail instructions
as to what to open and exactly what to look at and how to interpret whatever
it is I am supposed to look at.

What I've been doing up till now is just guessing when it is time to reboot or
waiting for the enter system to slow down to almost a stop (which has happened
*s*). And strangely enough, Ctrl-Alt-Del two times in succession then does NOT
reboot the system. So you can see why I need the System Resources instructions
