i have implemented a system that would allow to have 0-many audio apis, with true 0 apis support (no dummy apis), and where developers could add
support for new APIs just as easily as writing an external.

it's only for audio right now (no midi yet), as i don't want to spend to
much time in it, if it won't get accepted.

of course it needs a lot of cleanup.

it was done before the last round of patches to pd-0.43, but i have
tried to rebase it to the current state of pd.git.

Sounds like a good idea, but I don't know enough about the audio API code to say much more.
