i have implemented a system that would allow to have 0-many audio
apis,
with true 0 apis support (no dummy apis), and where developers could

support for new APIs just as easily as writing an external.
it's only for audio right now (no midi yet), as i don't want to

much time in it, if it won't get accepted.
of course it needs a lot of cleanup.
it was done before the last round of patches to pd-0.43, but i have
tried to rebase it to the current state of pd.git.

Sounds like a good idea, but I don't know enough about the audio API
code to say much more.
