The private address is 127.0.0.1, also known as the loopback address,
and named "localhost". There is one other address associated with each
network card in your system that is what is used to communicate over the
internet or LAN. Adresses like 10.0.0.1 and 192.168.0.1 are local to
your network, most of the others can be accessed across the Internet.
PD can use any of these, as long as your system is set up to allow it.
